Material connection disclosure (FTC 16 CFR §255)AlbaniaClinic.com is an independent care coordinator based in Tirana, Albania. We receive compensation from partner clinics when patients book care through our service. We disclose this connection clearly because we believe transparency is essential to medical decisions. The information on this page is editorial; clinics are paid services. We have no exclusive agreement with any single clinic and we are not paid by clinics to be listed.

The plastic surgery question is harder than dental

Dental implants are mostly mechanical. The implant brand and the surgeon's protocol are most of the outcome. Plastic surgery is harder — the variable that matters most is the individual surgeon's eye, hands, and case mix over years. This is true in the US, in Italy, in Albania, and anywhere else. Choosing well matters more than choosing cheap.

That said, the gap between US prices and Albanian prices for plastic surgery is large enough — routinely 60-75% — that the conversation is worth having, with eyes open. Below is what we coordinate, who does it, what the warranty covers, and what we will and will not coordinate.

Why — and why this is not the Turkey model

The cost gap exists because Albanian labor, real estate, and malpractice insurance run at 15-25% of US levels. The surgical training pathway for the surgeons we work with includes Italian, German, or French residencies. Implants come from the same Mentor / Motiva / Polytech factories used in US OR rooms. There is no quality discount embedded in the price — the structure of the Albanian healthcare economy is simply different.

What Albania is NOT. Albania does not have the high-volume Turkish "surgery mill" model where a single surgeon performs 8-12 cases per day with technicians performing most of the work and minimal post-operative follow-up. The clinics we coordinate with operate at a maximum of 2-3 cases per surgeon per day, with the named surgeon performing the entire procedure from incision to closure. We publish surgeon weekly case counts annually as part of our editorial transparency. If a clinic in our network exceeded conservative volume thresholds, we would delist.

Clinical routing — which clinic does the surgery

For US patients seeking plastic surgery, our highest-volume match in the directory is Nouvelle Clinique:

For specialized cases that fall outside Nouvelle Clinique's scope (e.g., complex facial reconstruction, large male body contouring), we coordinate with other clinics in the network. Matching is made after photo consultation — you upload current photos and procedure preferences, and we return a clinic recommendation with surgeon credentials and quote within 48 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How much does plastic surgery cost in Albania for US patients?

Rhinoplasty $2,500-4,500 (vs $8,000-15,000 USA). Breast augmentation $3,500-5,500 (vs $8,000-15,000 USA). Tummy tuck $4,500-7,000 (vs $10,000-18,000 USA). Liposuction $2,000-4,500 per area. All-in pricing including surgeon, anesthesia, OR, implants.

Are Albanian plastic surgeons board-certified?

Yes — QKL specialist registration plus typically ISAPS, EBOPRAS, or Italian SICPRE membership. Credentials, training pathway, and case volume disclosed for every quote. We do not coordinate with surgeons lacking documented specialist certification.

Is Albania like Turkey?

No. Maximum 2-3 cases per surgeon per day vs Turkey's 8-12. Named surgeon performs the entire procedure. We publish weekly case counts annually.

How long do I stay in Albania?

Rhinoplasty 7-8 days (cast day 7). Breast aug 5-7 days. Tummy tuck 8-10 days (drains 5-7). We arrange recovery accommodation and compression garments.

What if I have complications back in the US?

Referral list of US plastic surgeons familiar with international cases. Warranty-covered revisions: Albanian clinic covers surgical costs, you cover travel.

Can I combine procedures?

Yes for complementary ones (e.g., breast aug + lipo, rhino + chin). We decline combinations >4 hours OR or that compound anesthesia/blood-loss risk.

What about flying home?

One-stop via Frankfurt/Vienna/Istanbul/Rome. Some procedures (tummy tuck, large-volume lipo) require 7-10 days before flying due to thrombosis risk.
